My Story

I didn’t set out thinking I’d be an entrepreneur, author, or leader – I just kept following what interested me, and the path unfolded from there. Over the years, I’ve worked with some of the biggest companies in the world, including Hewlett Packard Enterprise, IBM, and other Fortune 500s, where I learned the ins and outs of business at scale. Those experiences gave me a solid foundation – but deep down, I always knew I wanted to build things of my own.

That drive has led me to start multiple businesses, each one a new adventure:

  • Blue 5 Consulting (B5C): helping small businesses and solopreneurs Think Big. Start Small. Act Quickly.

  • Engage Mobile Marketing (EMM): creating smart, simple text marketing and loyalty programs that just work for small business.

  • Backstory T-Shirts (BST): merging creativity, humour and quirk with a wearable twist.
  • MyLifeCatcher (MLC): Our newest and biggest new business. MLC is a family organization app designed to make life easier and less chaotic for everyone… but especially – Moms!

Along the way, I was able to take a year off to travel the world, stepping away from the grind to gain new perspectives (and some pretty great stories). I also had the pleasure of taking two years to be a High School Math and Physics teacher (also some pretty great stories).

Despite all that, it’s only recently that I feel like I’m figuring out what I really want to be now that I’ve “grown up.” One of the biggest shifts for me has been embracing action over overthinking (and THAT is still a Work-In-Progress). For years, I was good at helping  other people see (or telling them) what they needed to do next – but when it came to my own projects, I wasn’t always as fast to move. That’s changed in a big way. Writing Time to GSD is proof  that no second-guessing, no perfect plan – just the decision to make it happen and get it out into the world – Gets Sh*t Done!

The truth is, my story is still very much unfolding. Whether through writing, consulting, current and soon-to-be businesses, or new books and new ventures, my focus is on staying curious, staying real, and helping others get where they want to go – by taking action, one step at a time. And, most importantly and perhaps the REAL reason for my new found GSD clarity… I have reconnected with my high school sweetheart and now wife, Raelynn, who is of the same mindset, lifestyle and the kindest person I will ever know… things are coming together in ways I never thought possible!

So, as the book says…Time to GSD!
